WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies – and all subcommittee Democrats – opposed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Agriculture appropriations bill offered by the Majority. The bill passed on a party-line vote and now moves to the full House Appropriations Committee for consideration.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA-02), Drew Ferguson (R-GA-03), Dan Kildee (D-MI-08), and Adrian Smith (R-NE-03) applauded today's approval of H.R. 1480, the Beagle Brigade Act, by the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. Congressman Bishop led the effort in committee to secure its passage with a unanimous, bipartisan vote. The bill can now be considered by the full U.S. House of Representatives.
The bill will authorize the National Detector Dog Training Center, located in Newnan, Georgia.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) hosted a reception at the Albany Museum of Art to celebrate the participants in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition from Georgia's 2nd Congressional District. The annual competition for high school students has taken place for over four decades.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA-02), Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-05), and Congressman Andy Kim (D-NJ-03) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate April as the Month of the Military Child. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and John Boozman (R-AR) introduced the resolution in the U.S. Senate.
Month of the Military Child is observed each April to honor and celebrate military children and youth for their service, commitment, and sacrifice in support of the Department of Defense's mission.
