Congressman Bishop has supported America’s resurgent leadership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and reaffirming the strong bonds between the United States and its European allies in response to Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty and resulting threat to regional stability.
As a former Member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for six years, Congressman Bishop is vigilantly works to protect this country from biological and nuclear threats, improve information sharing across intelligence agencies, bolster cyber-security, strengthen border security, and secure America's ports, airports, highways, transit and rail systems, energy grids, and other physical infrastructure.

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted to support a combined funding bill which will provide full-year funding for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 to the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education, and other departments and agencies that support affordable housing and health care and advance medical research; workforce training as well as entrepreneurs and small business owners; and America’s military families, national defense, diplomacy, and election security. The bill also froze funding for the U.S.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted for two War Powers resolutions that were introduced to halt the ongoing use of military force by the Trump Administration in the Caribbean without Congressional authorization. To date, President Trump has ordered airstrikes on at least 23 vessels, killing at least 86 civilians. He also threatened military action against Venezuela.

“As the Jewish community gathers around the world to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot, we pause to remember the nearly 1,200 Israelis who were killed two years ago today when the terrorist group Hamas launched its savage attack.
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted against a bill that would take back $9.4 billion in funds that were already Congressionally approved and signed into law. These funds were approved by Congress and signed into law earlier this year. H.R. 4 was previously considered by the U.S. House but was since modified by the U.S. Senate to restore $400 million in funds for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, A George W. Bush-era program which has helped prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths a year.
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, voted against H.R. 4106, the bill to fund the U.S. Department of Defense for Fiscal Year 2026.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) supported four bipartisan bills that would address threats against the United States in Europe, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific Region as well as support American operations and allies in these regions. The bills were approved with large majorities and now head to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, supported bipartisan legislation that will fund many federal departments, agencies, and programs for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2024. The bill was approved by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 286-134 and now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
