MACON, GA – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) announced that the Georgia Rural Water Association (GRWA), through the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA), is the recipient of a $1,185,867 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). This grant will fund the purchase of 31 portable generators, 7 portable bypass pumps and one paralleling box for water and wastewater facilities throughout Georgia.

DAWSON, GA– Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food & Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, announced a $222,081 Rural Decentralized Water Systems grant to Golden Triangle Resource Conservation and Development Council (RCDC). The grant is part of USDA's Rural Development program and will help finance direct loans for household water well installments.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food & Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, announced two awards totaling $376,500 in Community Facilities Direct Loans and Grants for the City of Blakely. USDA's Rural Development program will help the City of Blakely purchase a new grapple and garbage truck.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) presented a ceremonial check to Albany Technical College representing the $1,000,000 in federal funding that the Congressman secured for the college as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 funding bill. The college will use the funds to recruit individuals into allied health professions with the overall goal of addressing the nursing shortage throughout Southwest Georgia.
