WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted against two bills, the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act and the proposed spending bill for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) covering Financial Services and General Government funding. Both bills, in their present form, are ultimately harmful and counterproductive to America’s well-being and military readiness.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Bill Posey (FL-08) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate July 14 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day,” which would recognize the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars as an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) introduced H.R. 4162, the Land Grant Research Prioritization Act. This bipartisan bill would provide land grant universities with dedicated access to existing U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant funding to enhance artificial intelligence (AI), mechanization, and other research to develop solutions to the challenges facing America’s agricultural producers.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food & Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, opposed the Fiscal Year 2024 funding bill for Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA, and Related Agencies during its consideration by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.
