Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), co-chair of the Congressional Military Family Caucus and senior member on the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, issued the following statement regarding the death of three U.S. Servicemembers from the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade at Fort Moore who were killed during an attack on their base in Jordan.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) supported H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24). This bill is the product of negotiations between the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate and is a compromise between the two versions of the bill that both chambers passed earlier this year. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) congratulated 15 college and university students from throughout Georgia’s Second Congressional District who were recently awarded prestigious federal scholarships for international studies. The students were awarded either the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship or the John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families by the office of the U.S. Department of State.
