Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) – Co-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Military Family Caucus and a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction – supported the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025.
PLAINS, Ga. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 9600, bipartisan legislation to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 119 Main Street in Plains, Georgia, as the "Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office". Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Dean of the Georgia Congressional Delegation, was the leading sponsor of H.R. 9600. The legislation now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) applauded today’s passage of the Beagle Brigade Act by the U.S. Senate and urged House leaders to bring the measure to a vote.
In March 2023, Congressman Bishop introduced the bipartisan H.R. 1480, the Beagle Brigade Act, along with Congressman Drew Ferguson (GA-03), Dan Kildee (MI-08), and Adrian Smith (NE-03). At the same time, U.S. Senators Rev. Raphael Warnock (GA) and Joni Ernst (IA) introduced the companion bill which was approved by unanimous consent in the Senate today.
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands held a legislative hearing where they reviewed the bipartisan H.R. 8182, the Ocmulgee Mounds Park and Preserve Establishment Act, which is co-led by U.S. Representatives Austin Scott (GA-08) and Sanford D. Bishop Jr. (GA-02).
This bipartisan legislation would establish Ocmulgee Mounds and surrounding areas in Middle Georgia as the state's first National Park and Preserve.
