WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) and Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson (PA-15), co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Scouting Caucus, introduced a resolution celebrating the 115th Anniversary of Scouting America this week.

Scouting America was incorporated in Chicago, Illinois on February 8th, 1910. Since then, millions of young men and women have joined Scouting and have learned the values of patriotism, courage, and self-reliance.

WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) joined Congressman John Moolenaar (MI-02) to introduce H.R. 1020, the Broadening Online Opportunities Through Simple Technologies (BOOST) Act. The two serve as the Democratic and Republican leaders of the bipartisan bill which would allow rural households to claim a $300 tax credit for the purchase of a home Wi-Fi signal booster or mobile hotspot to access the internet.

WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) joined House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) to introduce H.R. 601, the Estate Tax Rate Reduction Act. This bipartisan legislation would cut the estate tax in half and provide tax relief to family-owned businesses. Currently, the estate tax is the highest tax rate in the U.S. Tax Code at 40%.

WASHINGTON – On Saturday, January 4, President Joe Biden signed into law, H.R. 9600, a bipartisan bill led by Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) and supported by the Georgia Congressional Delegation, that designates the United States Postal Service facility located at 119 Main Street in Plains, Georgia, as the “Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office.” A companion bill in the U.S. Senate was introduced and led by U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock.
