WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, supported bipartisan legislation that will fund many federal departments, agencies, and programs for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2024. The bill was approved by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 286-134 and now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, the Food & Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, announced that he secured $15,710,474 in funds for 15 community projects in Georgia’s Second Congressional District.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, supported the passage of a short-term federal spending bill that will allow the federal government to avoid a partial shutdown which would have occurred this weekend. The bill extends funding for four spending bills (Agriculture, Energy-Water, Military Construction-VA, and Transportation-HUD) through March 1 and the remaining eight spending bills through March 8. WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, supported the passage of H.R. 6363, a continuing resolution providing funding to keep the federal government open into early 2024. The bill also provides a one-year extension of the 2018 Farm Bill as Congress continues work on a full, five-year reauthorization bill which covers agriculture, nutrition, and rural development programs. WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA02), Ranking Member of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies, led bipartisan opposition to H.R. 4368, the Fiscal Year 2024 Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA and Related Agencies funding bill. The bill was defeated last night by a bipartisan vote, 191-237.

The federal funds were made possible by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act which the Congressman supported.
