MONTEZUMA, Ga. – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) of $105,942 to the city of Montezuma, Georgia.

WASHINGTON – Last week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) supported the passage of H.R.3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act. This bill reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for five years. The bill was approved by an overwhelming, bipartisan vote of 351-69.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) opposed the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) as well as the FY24 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies funding bill. These bills make massive cuts to federal programs that safeguard the country’s roads, railways, bridges, airports, and other critical infrastructure.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) introduced H.R. 4162, the Land Grant Research Prioritization Act. This bipartisan bill would provide land grant universities with dedicated access to existing U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant funding to enhance artificial intelligence (AI), mechanization, and other research to develop solutions to the challenges facing America’s agricultural producers.
