CONGRESSMEN BISHOP AND POSEY CELEBRATE COLLECTOR CAR CONTRIBUTION TO AMERICAN HERITAGE
WASHINGTON – This afternoon, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Bill Posey (FL-08) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate July 14 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day,” which would recognize the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars as an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.
“Cars are part of the American fabric and family. They embody the freedom, technological innovation, and creative spirit of our country. Inasmuch as they are the modern workhorse of our society, they are also iconic national treasures that have been, and continue to be, cherished by collectors and enthusiasts. They are often preserved and passed down from generation to generation. We continue to showcase these marvels which bring us together and inspire us to build and dream,” said Congressman Bishop. “As the co-chair of the Congressional Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus, I am proud to once again join my colleague, Congressman Bill Posey of Florida, in introducing this resolution. We will continue our work together highlighting this important part of Americana and the contribution these cars and their collectors make to it.”
“Collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States,” said Congressman Posey. “For many young people, a car restoration project often leads to a successful career in the automotive field. I thank my colleague, Rep. Sanford Bishop, for his leadership in introducing this bipartisan resolution that acknowledges a great time-honored American tradition.”
