WASHINGTON – Last week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (GA) introduced the Protecting Our Produce Act in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. The companion bills establish a pilot program to provide payments to certain U.S. seasonal and perishable fruit and vegetable producers for relief from unfairly priced seasonal imports.

The program is administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

ALBANY, Ga. – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation, through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has awarded the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport a $270,000 Airport Improvement Grant. The grant will fund the first phase of a project to design and rehabilitate 200 feet and 500 feet of two separate runways as well as additional paved operating spaces for airplanes using the airport.
