Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) was selected as Legislator of the Year.

The National Association of Farm Service Agency County Office Employees (NASCOE) presented the award during its national convention in Savannah.

When presenting Congressman Bishop with the award, NASCOE President Marcinda Kester noted that, "... he continuously demonstrates a bipartisan fiscally conservative stance that helps bring members together from both sides of the aisle to recognize and support the role of the American farmer and rancher."

Workforce development, expansions and tourisms

Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), co-chair of the Congressional Job Corps Caucus, welcomed U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh to Albany, Georgia.

The pair toured the Turner Job Corps Center and discussed the value of the Job Corps program in strengthening America's economy and preparing participants for successful careers.

COLUMBUS – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr., D-Ga., hosted a recent roundtable discussion at the National Infantry Museum attended by local veterans, community leaders, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough.

The discussion was an opportunity for local veterans and leaders to share their insights with the secretary about VA care and ways in which it can be improved. Earlier in the day, Bishop participated in a ceremony at the newly named Robert S. Poydasheff VA Clinic in Columbus.

ALBANY, Ga. – U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh joined Congressman Sanford Bishop and Turner Job Corps leaders to tour the facility, answer questions students had and hear their concerns.
During Secretary Walsh's tour, the discussion was focused around the value of training for the workforce which helps in strengthening the economy.

After opening its doors to patients on July 11, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday for the new Robert S. Poydasheff VA Clinic in Columbus.

Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough took part in the ceremony alongside U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop, local elected officials and members of local veteran organizations. McDonough's visit to the Columbus area will help assess how President Biden's Unity Agenda can help improve local operations, according to a news release from Bishop's office.
