MACON, Ga. –Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) announced a recent $1,008,333 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Mercer University (located in Macon, GA) through the Healthy Start program. The Mercer University School of Medicine runs South Georgia Healthy Start (SGHS) which helps educate mothers and expecting families about maternal health, parenting, infant safety, and more.
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressmen Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Don Davis (NC-01), both members of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, introduced H.R. 8198, the Heirs Education and Investment to Resolve Succession (HEIRS) of Property Act. This bill would help families by providing legal services that help them resolve heirs’ property issues, which could take months or years, so that they can start using their land for agriculture production.
Congressmen Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Austin Scott (GA-08), and Don Davis (NC-01) re-introduced H.R.7761, the Heirs Education and Investment to Resolve Succession of (HEIRS) Property Act in the 119th Congress. They introduced and led this bill in May 2024 during the previous, 118th Congress.
This bill would help families by providing legal services that help them resolve heirs’ property issues, which could take months or years, so that they can start using their land for agriculture production.
