WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) applauded the ruling by a federal judge today blocking President Trump’s $100,000 fee for employers’ H-1B applications. Judge Leo Sorokin declared in the ruling in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts that “the substance and application of the $100,000 payment reveal that it is a tax” and that Congress had not delegated that power to the executive branch.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) introduced the H–1Bs for Physicians and the Healthcare Workforce Act, bipartisan legislation along with Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27) and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (NY-09). This legislation will exempt physicians and other health care workers from the new $100,000 fee for H-1B petitions.

The Trump Administration claimed that its deportation policy would focus on violent felons who are in the United States illegally. WASHINGTON – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) announced today that he signed on as a co-sponsor of House Resolution 577, which calls on the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other relevant agencies to release all unclassified records, flight logs, and investigative materials related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The resolution also affirms Congress’ “constitutional authority under Article I to conduct investigations, issue subpoenas, and expose criminal misconduct and institutional corruption.”

This bill would help families by providing legal services that help them resolve heirs’ property issues, which could take months or years, so that they can start using their land for agriculture production.

Congressmen Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Austin Scott (GA-08), and Don Davis (NC-01) re-introduced H.R.7761, the Heirs Education and Investment to Resolve Succession of (HEIRS) Property Act in the 119th Congress. They introduced and led this bill in May 2024 during the previous, 118th Congress.

This bill would help families by providing legal services that help them resolve heirs’ property issues, which could take months or years, so that they can start using their land for agriculture production.
