I support legislation to help homeowners avoid foreclosure, stop predatory and irresponsible mortgage loan practices, increase the supply of affordable housing, expand veteran and rural housing opportunities, promote fair housing education and enforcement activities, and finance community development initiatives.

FORT GAINES, GA – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) applauded the recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development to award the City of Fort Gaines $169,800 to purchase patrol vehicles and security equipment. The award — a $100,000 grant and a $69,800 loan — will be matched with $68,000 from the city.

CUTHBERT, GA – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) applauded the recent award of a $828,000 low-interest loan to Cuthbert, Georgia from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA). The loan was made through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund program which is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The organization will be contributing $29,351 of its own funds to the project.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) helped secure $550 billion in new federal investment in surface infrastructure, high-speed internet, and the environment by sending H.R. 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, to President Biden for his signature. It will set the tone for the country's investment in roads, bridges, rail, airports, and ports.
There are many programs available through U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development (USDA RD) that can assist agricultural producers, individual businesses, and local governments. From improving high speed internet access to ensuring communities have access to healthcare, USDA RD fosters opportunity and economic security for people and communities in rural America through a broad range of investments.
