WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Ranking Member of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, released the below statement on the House version of the 2018 Farm Bill, which was considered Friday on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Due to substantial concerns over the negative impact the bill would have had on rural communities, farmers, seniors and children, Congressman Bishop opposed the legislation.

WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier this week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) led 10 other Members of Congress in a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee opposing legislation, H.R. 1394, that would allow states to eliminate Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) for patients, including kidney dialysis patients.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Sanford Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted in favor of the bipartisan package H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015​​, which will strengthen health care for older Americans, poor children, and families by permanently fixing the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula for Medicare physician payments, providing funding to pay Medicare Part B premiums, supporting community health centers, and extending the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for two years.
