DAWSON, GA – On Friday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) presented a ceremonial check to the Golden Triangle Resource Conservation and Development Council (RCDC) representing $1,000,000 in federal funding that the Congressman secured as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 funding bill.
Congressman Bishop is a senior leader on the U.S. House of Representatives' Appropriations Committee. He serves as the Ranking Member, top Democrat, on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food & Drug Administration, and Related Agencies. He is also a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies as well as the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - A park known as Chason Park is getting expanded thanks to federal funds.
The City of Bainbridge was awarded $1.2 million from the Department of Community Affairs for Rural Downtown Redevelopment. They also received over $30,000 from a trust foundation. All the money will go towards the Chason Park Expansion Project.
The project is currently in its third phase. The park expansion will include two playgrounds, a splash pad, a grand staircase and some historical additions such as a memorial fountain.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) commemorated the one-year anniversary of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act's (IIJA) enactment. Congressman Bishop supported the bipartisan infrastructure bill's approval in Congress.

Congressman Sanford Bishop took time off the campaign trail Thursday to stop by Pelham City Hall to place the ceremonial first E911 call on the city's new radio system, which was purchased with federal funds Bishop helped obtain for Pelham.
According to Pelham city manager Christian Drake, the need to upgrade the city's public safety radio system has been an issue for approximately five years.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) supported H.R. 6833, a short-term funding bill commonly referred to as a Continuing Resolution, that will keep the federal government open through mid-December as Congressional Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate work towards a final, full-year funding bill.

Democrats won House passage Wednesday of a package of fiscal 2023 appropriations bills that includes new funding for conservation technical assistance and rural broadband as well as substantial spending increases for EPA and the Interior Department.
The package includes bills to fund USDA and FDA, as well as EPA, Interior, the Transportation and the Army Corps of Engineers.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter understands the concerns his fellow Republicans have about "pork" spending, but he said they are missing an important part of their mission by refusing to submit requests for federal funding for specific projects in their districts.
These requests, known formally as "community projects" but better known as earmarks, could bring tens of millions of dollars to Georgia beyond anything the state receives through the normal allocation of program funding.
