WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) supported the approval of H.R. 2499, the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act. This bipartisan bill would establish a presumption that specific diseases prevalent among federal firefighters and other federal first responders are considered work-related, rather than require these frontline defenders to affirmatively demonstrate that the hazardous nature of their jobs caused their illness.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) highlighted several broadband infrastructure improvement projects across Middle and Southwest Georgia funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and with local matching funds. The projects were announced by Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp, state leaders, and the state's Broadband Infrastructure Committee. In Middle and Southwest Georgia projects to expand broadband internet access to over 18,000 sites were awarded over $54.6 million.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) is pleased to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $1 million to Georgia Tech's College of Engineering to develop tactics to protect children from harmful emissions from controlled wildland burns.

As of 2023 the Georgia Rental Assistance Program is no longer accepting new applications. The following information relates to an assistance program that was previously available for a period of time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) applauded last week's $13,435,552 grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Georgia Department of Community Health in Cordele for testing and other COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The funds were made possible by the American Rescue Plan's Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP).
