BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - A park known as Chason Park is getting expanded thanks to federal funds.
The City of Bainbridge was awarded $1.2 million from the Department of Community Affairs for Rural Downtown Redevelopment. They also received over $30,000 from a trust foundation. All the money will go towards the Chason Park Expansion Project.
The project is currently in its third phase. The park expansion will include two playgrounds, a splash pad, a grand staircase and some historical additions such as a memorial fountain.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Job Corps Caucus received the 2022 Congressional Leadership Award from the Friends of the Congressional Job Corps Caucus for his staunch support of the Job Corps program.

The grant was awarded by Secretary of Rural Development Xochitl Torres Small and Congressman Sanford D. Bishop.
The Pippin family is grateful for the grant and is excited for the future of their farm.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be announcing two more family-owned farms in Georgia for the Value-Added Producer Grant.
