WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) led the U.S. House Agriculture Committee in adopting a bipartisan resolution designating July as National Blueberry Month. It was approved by a bipartisan, voice vote.

FORT VALLEY, GA – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) spoke at a local event highlighting the Build Back Better Budget. He noted that federal investments that promote manufacturing and buying electric vehicles can create good jobs as well as protect children and the environment from air pollution.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Co-Chair of the Congressional Job Corps Caucus, visited the Turner Job Corps Center (TJCC) in Albany to discuss the importance of its federally supported programs which serve youth from Georgia and across America. Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country.

Among the measures that the House approved today are H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, and S. Con. Res. 14, the budget resolution which was approved by the U.S.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) successfully directed $7.2 million to Albany-area projects in this year's Fiscal Year 2022 Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. The City of Albany will get $5.2 million to expand Driskell Park's facilities as well as revitalize the Ritz Cultural Center, a historic landmark.

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted in support of H.R. 2062, the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act, a bill he cosponsored. This bill would restore important and well-established workplace protections for older Americans that were weakened in 2009 by the U.S. Supreme Court. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 247-178 and now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement after President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act, the latest coronavirus relief bill, into law:

"Today, help is on the way for Georgians. Between the economic aid and the comprehensive vaccination plan, the American Rescue Plan Act will help bring us through the coronavirus crisis much faster."
