Small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy. I support legislation to establish a lending fund to provide community banks with capital to increase small business lending. I also support investing in innovative state small business lending programs, providing tax incentives to purchase employee health insurance coverage, reducing regulatory burdens and unnecessary paperwork, and enacting measures to spur small business creation and new jobs.

Workforce development, expansions and tourisms
Albany and Dougherty County have had more than their fair share of challenges in recent years (straight-line wind events, a tornado, a hurricane and being Ground Zero for the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia). However, residents and businesses in this Southwest Georgia county are resilient. They have worked hard to generate opportunities for a better quality of life that includes increased healthcare access, workforce development, a thriving downtown and improved economic prospects.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) supported the approval of H.R. 3807, the Relief for Restaurants and other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act. This bill would provide an additional $42 billion for the Restaurant Revitalization Grant Program as well as $13 billion for a new Small Business Administration grant program to help hard-hit small businesses that have lost significant revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
