WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Vice Chair of the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilCon/VA) Appropriations Subcommittee, voted in support of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 MilCon/VA appropriations bill. The funding bill is the product of months of bipartisan collaboration and provides $279.9 billion for programs which represents an increase of $28.1 billion – more than 10 percent – above 2021.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted to pass the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) funding bill after its markup in subcommittee. It includes $29.1 billion in discretionary funding, an increase of $4.8 billion over 2021. The bill now moves to the full Appropriations Committee for consideration.

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted in support of H.R. 2062, the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act, a bill he cosponsored. This bill would restore important and well-established workplace protections for older Americans that were weakened in 2009 by the U.S. Supreme Court. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 247-178 and now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) and Congressman Bill Posey (FL-08) introduced H.Res. 491, a bipartisan resolution to designate July 9 as "Collector Car Appreciation Day", which would recognize the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars as an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted to repeal the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) Against Iraq Resolution of 2002. The 2002 AUMF provided broad leeway for the President to conduct war following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement on the House of Representative's passage of S. 475, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, which would designate Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19, as a federal holiday. The House passed the bill by a vote of 415-14 and now it heads to President Biden for his signature.
