Pippin Orchards, in Dougherty County, was awarded a $250,000 Value-Added Producer Grant.

The grant was awarded by Secretary of Rural Development Xochitl Torres Small and Congressman Sanford D. Bishop.

The Pippin family is grateful for the grant and is excited for the future of their farm.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be announcing two more family-owned farms in Georgia for the Value-Added Producer Grant.

Wednesday afternoon, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) received the Friend of Farm Bureau award from the American Farm Bureau Federation. The ceremony was held at the American Peanut Growers Group, LLC shelling facility in Donalsonville, Georgia.
In his remarks, Congressman Bishop noted the enormous effect that agriculture has on Georgia and America's economy.
"I want to thank the Georgia Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation for this award," said Congressman Bishop.
