Washington, D.C. Congressman Sanford Bishop last night participated in a bi-partisan effort to defeat an amendment to the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill that would have cut funding for the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) and severely crippled the Fort Benning-based program.

Washington, D.C. Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr. announced that Albany State University has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Education to receive funding under the Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Institutional Aid Program. The grant, which is anticipated to be for a period of five years, will provide $3,454,282 to the school for fiscal year (FY) 2008.
