May 1, 2003

The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has approved funding to assist planning and development efforts of four Georgia Regional Development Centers based in Americus, Camilla, Columbus, and Valdosta, U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop announced.

Receiving EDA investments of $52,000 each are the South Georgia Regional Development Center, Valdosta; the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Development Center, Columbus; the Southwest Georgia Regional Development Center, Camilla; and the Middle Flint Regional Development Center, Americus.

"I commend our outstanding regional development agencies and EDA for working effectively together to create and sustain jobs, especially at a time when the economy in our area and throughout the country is struggling to recover," the Second District Congressman said.
