CONGRESSMAN BISHOP STATEMENT REGARDING VETERANS DAY
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies and Co-chair of the Congressional Military Family Caucus (CMFC), released a statement honoring our nation's veterans in advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday.
“On Veterans Day, we will gather to remember those Americans who have served our country with honor and distinction. We must remember that freedom isn’t free. It has been paid for with a price, and that price has been paid for by the sacrifice of our veterans.
“Veterans are courageous, humble people of integrity who provide a foundation of patriotic citizenship that the country cannot do without. If the nation is not being served well, veterans always get busy and do everything possible to get it back on track. They refuse to be complacent at times when the country is not living up to its potential for greatness.
“On this Veteran’s Day, we should take pause and give thanks to our veterans and their families of the past, present, and future for their dedication to serving our nation, defending our liberties, and sacrificing so much for the cause of life, liberty, and the pursuit of justice in our great nation.”
