WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) issued the following statement regarding the death of Georgia House Speaker David Ralston:
"I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Speaker David Ralston. As the presiding officer of the Georgia House, he demonstrated strong and effective leadership. He was a dedicated public servant and a champion for the people of Georgia. Our state is a better place because of his service.
"My wife, Vivian, and I extend our sincere condolences to his wife, Sheree, his children, his extended family, and all those who mourn his loss."
