CONGRESSMAN BISHOP STATEMENT ON THE FIRING OF FBI DIRECTOR COMEY
May 10, 2017
ALBANY, GA – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement responding to the firing of FBI Director James Comey:
"I was shocked by the President's action to fire FBI Director James Comey during an ongoing investigation of his campaign's alleged improper ties with Russia. It is now clearer than ever that the active investigation should be undertaken by an independent, non-partisan special commission. This is the only way to restore the American people's trust and confidence in our justice system. I urge the President and Congress to support the creation of an independent, non-partisan commission."
