CONGRESSMAN BISHOP LEADS RESOLUTION TO COMMEMORATE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
January 12, 2023
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) was joined by more than 78 of his colleagues to introduce H.Res. 30, a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives recognizing the 40th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and what would have been the civil rights leader's 94th birthday.
"Martin Luther King, Jr.'s message of nonviolence and compassion is as relevant today as it was during his lifetime," said Congressman Bishop. "January 15th would have been his 94th birthday, and this year is the 40th anniversary of the law that established the MLK Holiday. Let us recommit ourselves to his life's work to bring people together to build one ‘Beloved Community' at peace with itself."
