Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released a statement after Chairwoman Nita Lowey announced she will not seek reelection in 2020:

“Chairwoman Lowey has served with distinction and honor as she led the House Appropriations Committee in a strong and positive direction with an emphasis on bipartisanship and the ability to disagree agreeably with her infamous smile. She has been a leader and trailblazer in her 31 years in Congress, as the first Chairwoman of our powerful Committee, and I will always cherish our friendship. Nita has truly earned retirement and I wish her the best, but we will miss her tremendous legislative capabilities.”
