CHAIRMAN BISHOP SPEAKS AT DISASTER BILL ENROLLMENT CEREMONY

June 5, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, issued the following statement after speaking at the disaster bill enrollment ceremony:

"I was proud to speak on behalf of Middle and Southwest Georgia at the disaster bill enrollment ceremony. While it took too long to get disaster relief, I am confident the resources from this bill will help our district and the rest of the nation rebuild and repair from the catastrophes."

A bill enrollment ceremony is the formal event where the Speaker of the House signs the final copy of the bill before it is sent to the President to be signed into law.

The $19.1 billion disaster aid bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 354-58. A summary of the bicameral, bipartisan disaster relief package is available here.
