BISHOP VOTES TO REVERSE USPS CHANGES
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Senior Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, released the following statement after the full U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 8015, the Delivering for America Act:
“The changes the Postmaster General has made this year to the Postal Service operations are very concerning and he has not committed to reversing them. This bill will reverse the harmful policies the Postmaster General started and prevent him from making any further ones that will negatively impact the Postal Service’s operations.
“Americans depend on USPS to deliver medication, Social Security benefits, paychecks and so much more to every corner of our communities, even the most rural. This year, many Americans will rely on the Postal Service to carry their ballots for them as we all try to stay safe during the pandemic. We need a fully functioning Postal Service to keep America going in this difficult time. I urge the Senate to pass this bill and the President to sign it into law.”
