BISHOP SUPPORTS MORE ACT
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement after the passage of H.R. 3884, Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act of 2020 by the full U.S. House of Representatives:
“Reforming the federal government’s laws on marijuana is long overdue. Forty-seven states have already done so and if this bill becomes law, states will not have to worry about federal intervention. In addition to decriminalizing marijuana, this bill will create taxes on marijuana to fund new grant programs and will expunge previous marijuana convictions of non-violent offenders only.
“States have been on the forefront of this issue and its time the federal government caught up. The MORE Act will right historical wrongs and move our country forward.”
