BISHOP SUPPORTS CONTINUING RESOLUTION
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement regarding the passage of the Continuing Resolution by the full U.S. House of Representatives:
“I am pleased we were able to come to a bipartisan agreement on the Continuing Resolution to avoid a costly government shutdown during the pandemic, wildfires, and hurricanes. The additional $8 billion nutrition assistance for schoolchildren and their families; extended Pandemic EBT; flexible SNAP requirements; and increased resources and accountability for the Commodity Credit Corporation to protect our farmers and ranchers are all necessary additions to keep our nation going through December.
“However, I am disappointed the Senate has not taken up the FY 2021 funding bills and the Heroes Act already passed by the House. I urge the Senate to work to pass these bills for the American people, who deserve our support and more relief during this pandemic.”
