WASHINGTON, DC – The Department of Transportation was considering a ban on all peanut products on commercial airlines. Congressman Sanford Bishop wrote to the Transportation Secretary opposing such a ban.

He pointed out that more Americans are allergic to milk, eggs, and pets than peanuts, but there's no effort to keep them off airplanes.

Secretary Ray LaHood responded Tuesday by saying his Department will conduct a scientific study on peanut allergies before making any recommendations on possible peanut restrictions.
