U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop to co-host small business forum

December 7, 2011

U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop Jr., D-Albany, will co-host a small business forum Friday at Columbus Technical College .

Bishop will join Small Business Administration regional administrator Cassius Butts and Georgia District Director Terri Denison for the 10 a.m. event at 928 Manchester Expressway in Columbus. The event is open to the public and small business owners to focus on improving businesses, financing and getting access to government contracts.

“Small businesses employ approximately half of our nation’s private sector employees and have generated most of America’s new jobs over the past 17 years,” said Bishop. “In order to promote growth in our economy and combat high unemployment rates, it is essential that we provide our nation’s small businesses with the information and resources they need to enhance their operations, train their workforces and produce quality services and products. By providing our local Georgia entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to start and grow their businesses, we are providing some of the resources vital to recharging and sustaining our state’s economy.”

The forum ends at 1:30 p.m.
