Congressmen and Senators to help CSU students enter military academies Saturday
COLUMBUS, GA - This weekend, Congressman Westmoreland, joined by Senator Johnny Isakson, Senator Saxby Chambliss, and Congressman Sanford Bishop, will host a Service Academy Day in Columbus. The event will be held on Saturday, September 10th at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event will give students interested in attending one of the nation’s service academies a chance to meet with representatives from four of the nation’s five service academies. The four service academies who will be present are: the US Naval Academy (servicing both the Navy and the Marine Corps), the US Military Academy at West Point, the US Air Force Academy, the US Coast Guard. The US Merchant Marine Academy does not require a congressional recommendation.
“Our nation’s service academies are some of the top universities in the nation,” stated Westmoreland. “They not only provide a top notch education, they also prepare young men and women for leadership roles in our nation’s armed forces. One of my greatest honors as a United States Congressman is the opportunity to nominate qualified students from the Third District for these prestigious schools. I encourage any student with an interest in a service academy to attend this Service Academy Day in Columbus so they can learn more about our nation’s service academies, the process, and what it could mean for them to attend.”
Students interested in attending must register for the event by Friday, September 9th. To register, please contact Dana Gantt at 770-683-2033 or via email at dana.gantt@mail.house.gov.
