Columbus Ledger-Enquirer: Sanford Bishop wins award

U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.) has been awarded a 2008 Congressional Partnership Award from the National Association of Development Organizations for outstanding leadership in promoting federal community, economic and infrastructure development programs.
Bishop, who represents Georgia's 2nd Congressional District that includes part of Columbus and southwest Georgia, was nominated by the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Development Center, headquartered in Columbus, for his continued support of community and economic development programs in the region.
"Rep. Bishop is a true leader who has displayed an unwavering commitment to providing new economic opportunities for our nation's local communities," said NADO President Leanne Mazer. "Most importantly, Rep. Bishop understands that federal programs for basic infrastructure, small business development, job creation and comprehensive economic development planning are essential for the long-term competitiveness of our local communities."
The award recently was presented to Bishop in Washington, D.C.
