CAMILLA, GA - Mitchell County Middle School held their annual Black History program Thursday morning. Their theme for this year's assembly was "A Tribute to Motown."
Students performed old Motown music and songs, paying tribute to greats like Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson.
Teachers wore full African attire all to celebrate Black History month as well.
Officials hope students pass along their rich history to the next generation.
"It's important because these students think the world revolves around them. They need to know things started before them. It's important for them to know their history," said Music Teacher Krishna Preshna.
Congressman Sanford Bishop was the guest speaker for this morning's ceremony.
