Fiscal Year 2024 Appropriations: Community Project Funding Requests & Disclosures
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. has submitted funding requests for important community projects in Georgia’s Second Congressional District to the House Appropriations Committee.
Under guidelines issued by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, each member of the U.S. House of Representatives may request funding for up to 15 projects in their community for fiscal year 2024 – although only a handful may actually be funded. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state and local governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding.
In compliance with U.S. House Rules and Committee requirements, Rep. Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. has certified that he, his spouse, and his immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects he has requested.

The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the hospital will provide access to emergency services for residents in seven counties. The Southwest Georgia Regional Hospital is the epitome of an essential community facility, as there are no hospitals or emergency rooms in Randolph County or the surrounding six counties.
