Congressional Military Family Caucus

Congresswoman Jen A. Kiggans of Virginia (R) and Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., of Georgia (D), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Military Family Caucus
When someone joins the military, it is truly a family decision. As such, America's military families face unique challenges that require important conversations.
The Congressional Military Family Caucus educates Members of Congress about, and works to improve, resources that support the United States’ military families. Specifically, the caucus focuses on issues such as education, childcare, healthcare, spousal employment, and the effects of multiple deployments.
History
The Congressional Military Family Caucus was started in 2009 by Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA) and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA), who served as the caucus's Democratic and Republican Co-Chairs, respectively. The two co-chairs recognized that America's military strength is drawn from its military families. Together, they developed the signature event hosted by the caucus each year, a summit focusing on the military family. This summit was hosted in alternating years by the caucus Co-Chairs at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Fort Moore outside of Columbus, Georgia and Fairchild Air Force Base outside of Spokane, Washington.
At the conclusion of the 118th Congress and after more than a decade of leadership in the caucus, Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers retired. At the outset of the 119th Congress, the caucus welcomed a new Republican Co-Chair, Congresswoman Jen A. Kiggans (VA). The caucus will benefit from her expertise and insight as a military member, spouse, and mother.

Congressional Military Family Caucus holds an annual summit that brings together leaders across all branches of military as well as military family organizations and military families themselves to discuss successes and challenges faced by military families. These conversations help inform caucus members and inspire policy solutions that they can pursue through Congress.
The 2025 Congressional Military Family Summit will take place in the summer at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Fort Moore, Georgia. More detailed information about the event will be provided on this webpage as it becomes available.
You can read about the last time the summit was hosted at Fort Moore by visiting the 2023 summit webpage here: https://bishop.house.gov/CMFC-2023summit.
