WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies released the following statement on the resignation of United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D.:

“I thank Dr. Gottlieb for his work towards limiting the harm done by the opioid epidemic, teen tobacco use, reducing the costs of prescription drugs, and the approval of medical devices. He made significant strides towards improving the health and well-being of Americans, and I hope that these initiatives continue to progress at the FDA.”
