Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 3401, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act:
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02),Vice Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Military, Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies issued the following statement after President Trump issued a declaration of national emergency and plans to divert critical military construction funding to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
"While I voted for the last short-term continuing resolution, which was supposed to be a temporary measure pending completion of a long term spending bill, I voted against this one. Repeated continuing resolutions will cause further deterioration of our military readiness and military resources.
