WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) voted against a bill that would take back $9.4 billion in funds that were already Congressionally approved and signed into law. These funds were approved by Congress and signed into law earlier this year.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) opposed H.R. 1, a budget reconciliation bill that would gut crucial basic needs programs upon which millions of Americans rely and increase red tape. These cuts are being used to fund trillions of dollars in tax giveaways that overwhelmingly benefit billionaires and still explodes the deficit by $3.8 trillion.

WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., (GA-02) joined House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) to introduce H.R. 601, the Estate Tax Rate Reduction Act. This bipartisan legislation would cut the estate tax in half and provide tax relief to family-owned businesses. Currently, the estate tax is the highest tax rate in the U.S. Tax Code at 40%.
