CONGRESSMAN BISHOP STATEMENT ON FTC / PHOEBE PUTNEY COURT AGREEMENT

ALBANY, GA – Congressman Sanford Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement regarding the finalized consent agreement between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Phoebe Putney Health System, HCA Inc., and the Hospital Authority of Albany-Dougherty County over the merger between Phoebe Putney Health System and Palmyra Medical Center in Albany, Georgia.
"This decision has had an impact on Phoebe Putney's ability to recruit new doctors and medical personnel, financially affecting the hospital and thus our community. This agreement has been a long time in coming, and now that it is here, I look forward to Southwest Georgia moving forward with the assurance of the world-class health care we have come to expect from Phoebe Putney."
