Interior FY2010 Appropriations Requests

Proposed Recipient: Blue Heron Lake Nature Conservancy
Amount: $275,000

Explanation: Funds are requested to provide seed funding for the creation of a "Green Energy" environmental education building to support a program of community environmental education and ecopsychology for "at risk" children.

Explanation: Funding is sought for the purchase and development of a Safe House in Peach County which would utilize the natural environment as a primary tool for an effective and innovative life changing health and wellness module for domestic abuse victims.

Explanation: Requests funding for improvements surface water quality by providing combined sewer capacity relief to capture more storm water and sewage flows and associated flood relief in several areas of the City.

Explanation: Rehabilitation of wastewater facilities, including a new main force line and two sewage lift pumping stations.

Explanation: Flow-through Thermophilic Treatment National Demonstration project; EPA.

Proposed Recipient: Chattahoochee Trace National Heritage Area
Amount: $150,000

Explanation: The project requests funding for a feasibility study by the National Park Service, as authorized and signed into law this year. 

Proposed Recipient: Clay County Board of Commissioners 
Amount: $250,000

Explanation:  Project requests funding for an extension of the water system to low income areas of the county and to decrease ISO ratings from the current 10 to potentially a 7 or less.

Explanation: Requests funding for the development of a Center of Environmental Excellence (CoEE) to provide environmental health and green acquisition analysis by implementing a Chemical Life Cycle management (CLM) tool for use at FVSU and Georgia.

Explanation: Funding is requested for a project which will renovate and upgrade the City of Fort Valley's old wastewater reclamation facility to ensure compliance with EPD guidelines.

Explanation: Funding is sought for the construction of the three lift stations with a force main and gravity sewer which will convey wastewater from I-75 to the City's treatment facility.

Amount: $2,015,000

Explanation: Funding is requested to address several utility related issues due to the proposed widening of South Camellia Blvd by the DOT, the Commission must relocate overhead primary and secondary electric lines, gas services, water mains, sanitary sewer lines and fiber optic cables.
